Macifej.416 Barrett: Factory Rifle and Ammo Test Target #1
RIP.........so you're gonna buy and mount the glass on your new rifle and I'm gonna supply the rifle correct?!?!! That's a great deal for you!!!

N E 450 No2For shooting "paper" the 416 Barrett, will in time I think, prove more accurate at long range than the 50BMG. Much better for the target shooter.
For shooting "stuff" the 50 BMG will always be superior.

RIPRAUFUS not Rufus?
Very subtle, Macifej.
Anyway, they have Raufus bullets for the .338 Lapua, have heard .308 Raufus is not impressive due to the small amt of C4-like explosive in them, and I bet they have them for the 20mm and 30mm: Raufusized, but not Rufusized by Chaka Khan.
Thank you Tony, as you say the .416 Barrett could be a winner, and this IS about paper punching, not anti-materiel, or however you spell that.

RIPI wonder if Rick Jamison will try to get a piece of Barrett for making the cartridge with a 50BMG case shortened to about 3-1/4" and necked down to .416 caliber?

Besides the lesser drop and wind drift, the .416 Barrett does follow the short&fat accuracy pattern.

MacifejRick James and Rufus!! What kind of rifle are you building there RIP!! Maybe Chaka Khan will want a piece of your cartridge action too!

N E 450 No2Actually it is Raufoss, developed by NAMMO.

RIPThank you, Tony. Next week we'll probably be back to spelling it "Raufus" again or maybe even "Rufus."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raufoss_Mk_211This would be an excellent bullet for a Texas Heart Shot on Osama Been Hidin'. Catch him when he bends over, and the explosion should happen near his heart, and there is a 30-degree cone of blast that should take his head off too.

MacifejWHAT!? No Cyanide or Botulinum in that round?
Add the Cyanide & Botulinum and substitute the Tungsten rod with Depleted Uranium & You'd have the "Trinity"...maybe that's what Saddam was hiding.....a truck load of C.U.B. loaded ammo!

RIPMacifej,
Great ideas.

The heavier-than-tungsten DU might improve impact ignition, shorten the depth of penetration in flesh before they go off, and why miss out on the cyanide or botulinum toxin with zirconium powder filler?
I think you ought to call them "Raufosama" bullets though, and limit there use to "special" operations.

RIP1600 grains at 3300 fps in a 49" barrel???
The takedown lightweight 20mm:
That looks like it might leave a mark.
20mm Vulcan ammo through an Anzio 39-pound home-boy rifle, 3000 meter range for circus tent hunting:

This heavier one might shoot better (recoil pad size is inversely proportional to rifle weight):
Barrett is in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, close enough drive to my neck of the woods.
The Cobb bolt action repeater with a 10 round box is a real bargain (bolt on left side for right-hand shooter ease):
Cobb BA50's have 15" twist Lothar Walther barrels. Anzio seems to boast of LW barrels too.

We were talking simple target rifles to start with, but anti-materiel is interesting.
Anti-Osama is more interesting.

boom stickFor osama make sure it is a pig blood tipped bullet...gives new meaning to flying pig...
