As the subject line says. I know there are many that may have them in DG chamberings, but are they a serious contender in the eyes of PH's and/or multi Safari hunters? I know they are "ruff around the edges" and require some work, but would a guy be better off paying more up front for a GMA, Empire or Dakota action? I'm a LH shooter, I currently have a SS LH MRC that I was/am going to make into a .404 Jeff. The only hic-up is that by the time I send it off to a competent 'smith to be put together, worked over, stocked etc. etc. it will be pricey, not Stuart Satterlee pricey, but a fair chunk just the same. Whatdya folks think? Although mine is not in a DGR caliber, it was set up just like one. Jim Dubell at Delta Gun Shop did all of the metal work. I see no reason after a 'Smith like Jim's had their way with it that it wouldn't be. I looked at my MRC like a blank slate

For a left handed shooter what are your DGR options? There's Winchester, Dakota, Granite Mountain, MRC and perhaps you can add Ruger to the list. There're also the Charles Daly (Zastava) actions. If stainless is important then you can pretty much wipe out all those options except for the MRC. A good smith will have no problem turning an MRC action into a DG ready rifle. If resale value is a concern then I'd think Winchester factory rifle in 375H&H or perhaps a Dakota. Personally I'm having my MRC action tuned up and turned into a 416 Rem Mag. I have no worries about it being suitable for the task or not. cheers, - stu

Your PH will only care that you have enough gun and not who made it! If you want a DG rifle and want to use a LH MRC action go for it.....It's a fine way to go....at least mine in .404 Jeffery is a fine functioning gun! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I have a Lefty MRC 458 Lott and am very pleased with it. MRC stainless actions are a god send for us left handers. My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
