Dave BushBoom Stick:
I have a CZ .404 Jeffery with a wood stock and a .416 Rigby and .500 Jeffery both of which have the brown laminate stock. I really like the lamanites better. I know this is hard to believe but I think the laminates are a shade lighter than the wood, they are stronger, more stable and really quite attractive. In the .500, that added strength is a real plus.

MTMI found just the opposite. My Rigby with American stock is much lighter than the 375 American Safari Laminate I sold a while back. The laminate was very nicely finished and looked great but the gun weighed over 10 lbs. with no scope.

Dave BushMTM:
is it possible that your Rigby felt lighter because of the lighter barrel on the Rigby as opposed to the .375? I am thinking that the barrel contour for both would be the same but the Rigby barrel, becasue of the larger bore diameter, is somewhat lighter.
I don't have the CZ .375 but I am guessing that my wood stock .404 weighs at least 10 pounds without a scope. My laminate .416 seems to weigh less although I have to confess, I have not actually put them both on a scale and I don't want to pull the scope off my .404 just to weigh it.

NavalukI had a 416 Rigby with the sunset laminate. Not bad looking for what it is (plywood) but I beleive it is made for people with bigger hands than myself, although I had no trouble with it. I had trouble with the action being shall we say "rough". I would advise going with the standard advice of trying before buying if possible.

Don't know if that particular stock was extra heavy or what but it weighed over 10 with no scope. My Rigby weighs 10 1/4 with 2.5 x 8 Leupold in Talleys. Again it was a very nice stock and the Safari magmuns seem to be a touch nicer than the standard 550 Mags.
