Hello all, I am starting this thread to see how many people would be interested in seeing Hornady tool up for the 500 Jeffery.

If you will, send Hornady a email asking them to load this cartridge.

Here is the link:
https://www.hornady.com/contact_us.php

Under Subject of request click on:Product of availability inquires

I understand that someone from Hornady will be watching this thread. So here's hopeing we can generate enough interest, and show them it would be worthwhile.

I myself would be interested in buying quite a bit of it. I am getting ready to buy a 100 rounds.

Cheers

Max:

I sent them a note. I am not really interested in any ammo in that caliber as I reload all my own but I would dearly love to have some plain old 535 grain Interlocks for shooting at the range and maybe some 535 grain DG solids.

I'd definitely be interested in Hornady Brass, bullets (inexpensive ones like interlocks as well as DG bullets) and dies for the 500 Jeffery.

Hi everybody, I dont know how to start a new thread ,but Geoff Mc Donald just e-mailed me to let it be known that Woodleigh now have their .458 480 grainers in soft's and solids with the cannelure suitable for .458 Win and Lott. This enables an extra 4 grains of powder,Vital in the .458 Win.to get up over 2150fps without too much powder compressionRegards from O.Z

Yep, I sent them my email as well. I am hoping they are willing to adopt the 500 Jeffery, and offer factory ammo for us.

I had real good luck with 4D dies for the Jeff. Dave Davisson pretty well knows 500 Jeff's

Just too make life interesting (or difficult) I sent my request for 505 gibbs and mentioned all the interest in wildcat cfgs and availability of guns with builders such as CZ.

I wonder which 500 is the most popular? RCBS used to list the reloading dies order of volume sales that served as a indicator. I am surprised the 500NE would outsell either of the bolt rounds. Apparently they do.....

I know, The fact that Hornady already makes 510 bullets is a plus for the Jeffery.

I sent Hornady an email several months ago suggesting that since they already have the .510 bullets that they might consider loading the 500 Jeffery...never got a response. Hopefully this thread will help to get things moving.

hornady has added, THIS YEAR the .475 and .510 solids and softs, made by the thousand ..

last year, a totally different thing, they made the 375 ruger, the 416 ruger, the 450/400, the 404, and the 416 rigby, brass, ammo, bullets, etc.

One might say that they are actually IN the game

However, there's no market for them to make into for the 505 or 500, right this minute, as jamison has those sown up.

Lets face it, 200 pieces is a lifetime supply for 99% of even the guys that have them.,

They need to focus on GETTING BULLETS OUT... i can re-use brass!!

Well I actually talked with someone at Hornady. Who had interest in Loading for the 500 Jeffery.

Regardless of how you feel Jeffeosso, It would be nice to keep an open mind about the subject.

My mind is very open .. i would prefer the bullets IN THE MARKET than worry about cases. I've got a jeffe, have built 3.. doesn't make me an expert, but does make me use alot of different brass .. hornady makes fantastic brass, but..

and this is the point to keep the mind open about...

would you really want to "Waste" a wish one hornady making 500 jeffe brass OR making affordable bullets?

If its an either/or, frankly, I want bullets, not brass, from Hornady ... jamison and hornber both have fantastic brass out, and hornady wouldn't be able to make it any cheaper than the jamison brass ...

same quality, same price... why waste the time?

Steve, if you are reading this.. MAKE THE BULLETS FIRST

I agree with jeff,

It would be benifit more to push for bullets in 505,510,585 with some good loading data. We got the brass? Bullets is Hornady's roots.

What I(we) really need is good cheep practice bullets, in the right weight, not gold plated elephant stoppers. No light weight. Plain old, cheep cheep soft nose std bullets. That match the weight of the premium stuff.

If I am not mistaken, none of the 410, 416,423 bullets are sold as components either. that is a shame. Last I looked the 510 570 gr was not offered. That bullet could be swagged down .005 for a quality grade 505 bullet.

Individual reloading components are important.....BUT lets not forget the bigbore shooters that do not reload.

I have visited with a one custom custom ammunition company owner who stated he had an order of 500 rounds of 500 Jeffery loaded ammo, from one person. He said the 500 Jeffery was a very popular big bore round for him to load.

Fact is alot of people reload..AND alot of people don't. Lets not forget those that don't, as they do buy alot of ammunition. They buy it where they can find it. And pay the price.

Well I would be interested in ammo at reasonable prices, as well as brass and bullets.
