First, how does one remove the front sight from the front sight base on a CZ-550? Is it as simple as pushing the little plunger thing down and pulling the bead out? Second, the reason I'm asking about number one is I want to replace it with one of the red fiber optic front sights from Brownells. Assuming the factory front sight is the correct height, will that transfer over to the fiber optic sight. I'd prefer to only have to buy one. Thanks for the help! ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

Yes and yes. I did the same thing to a Ruger Safari magnum because I like the red front sight. You probably won't be able to simply pull it out, but holding down the pin, you should be able to gently tap it out. Gary DRSS NRA Lifer SCI DSC

Thanks Garby! I was trying to pull it out and was noticing it didn't budge. I'll try the tapping method - rubber mallet? ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

Or lead faced hammer. In my experience, the same size red insert sight - talking diameter - will look considerably larger than a brass bead, something to keep in mind when you select your red front sight. Also, I think they might be more fragile and to keep the light but still protect the fibre insert front sight, you might want to consider a windowed hood. JPK Free 500grains

I didn't realize that anyone made replacement front sight blades for the CZ. Any chance you can give me a part number or page number in the Brownells catalog? I have catalog 61.

racknagel makes the replacement, imported by newenglandcustomguns.com and can be had through midwayusa.com also. are you a 6 o'clock holder, or top of bead.. it will matter, as the fiber optic will change how you are shooting. Don't be surprised if you need a higher or lower one. you press the button down with a toothpick or other soft item, and tap out the sight with a soft item.. plastic mallet works. leather as well. the number on the bottom is the height of the sight in MM opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I called CZ and gave them the number on the standard sight (I believe it was 14) and they sent me a replacement red fiber optics sight with the same number. There was a small charge but they accepted a credit card. I believe they may offer more options now. BUTCH C'est Tout Bon (It is all good)
