Which is a better bullet for the 416 Rigby. Federal Fusion or Hornady? If your thinking both are bad, at the moment those are the only 2 I can get a hold of. So of the 2 which is better for Cape Buffalo? Thank You in advance for your answers Joe Savikataaq jr

I would stay away from the DGX bullet at all cost on anything that can bite or stomp you to death. My 2 centavos!

Have you looked at Barnes TSX or banded solids? Both show as available on Wholesale sports website http://ca.wholesalesports.com

I've used Hornady 400gr SP on several buffalo. They worked very well and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. However - I'm always on the lookout for somebody with a stash of TBBC they want to get rid of. TBBC is my bullet of choice but Federal denies them to the reloader market. I have only used the Federal Fusion in 30-06 on some PGs, and I will never consider to use the Fusion bullet on DG after that experience...

If you have a traditional 16.5" twist, then you should consider staying down at the 350 grain level with monolithic FLAT-nosed solids in .416". You can order flatnose solids directly from Barnes, I would not recommend the round-nose. If you want 400 grain bullets then you should consider lead-core for the solid. Or perhaps Northfork 370 grain, or Cutting Edge monolithic FLAT nose. Stability is important, both in flight and inside the animal. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.
