How many times can you reload brass for those calibers when you run them at moderate pressure?
Which of them is the best to choose on a CZ550?
What velocity can you reach out from a 500 NE 3" with a 535 grains bullet in a Ruger no 1?

I will answer only one of your questions. If starting with a CZ550, get one set for 416 Rigby and rebarrel it for .500 A-Square. There will be very little work to do to get it to feed properly.

Good luck!

I plan to buy a CZ 550 in caliber 458 WM becourse of that they offer just that rifle in that store.

I also wonder where I can get brass for the 500 A-Square.

Is it possible to make them from 460 Weatherby Magnum or must I buy them ready.

Buffalo Arms offer 378 Weatherby Magnum basic, maybe it´s possible to just run those in the sizing die.

Kalle,

Skip the .458 win mag and order one in 416 Rigby. It will save your gunsmith a lot of effort and it will save you money to start with the 416 rigby.

You can get 500 A2 brass in several ways:

1. order from quality cartridge: http://owlnet.com/quality/

or

2. Neck up 460 wby brass (go from .458 to .475, then .475 to .510)

or

3. Neck 378 wby basic brass down in a 500 A2 file and trim die

or

4. Buy brass from A-Square.

Since MAST got out of the brass business, finding good cases for the .500 A2 has become more difficult. I stocked up on .378 Wby. basic while the getting was good.

Quality Cartridge used to buy their brass from MAST and are now wating for new stock from a new source. Which source they're now using I don't know.

I have been scared off the A-Square brass by bad reports--i.e., that it's too soft or variably soft, that it splits too easily, etc. Maybe this is old news and they have found another supplier, I don't know.

I am able to neck up .460 Wby. to .510 in one operation. I am also able to neck down the cylindrical .378 Wby. basic to .510 in one operation.

a paptered mandrel, for the 416/460 to .510 is easy to knock that out.

just make certain the thick end is larger than 1" and tap the mandrel down teh case (use case lube) and then drop into your press, slip the case into the shellholder, pull... pop.. trim

BB 500 jeffe lasted between 8-11 shots, before neck fatigue..

dieters brass seems to last LOADS (heh) longer

All ya gotta do is seat a .510 caliber boat tail into the .460 Wby case and go shoot it. The bullet alone with a properly long boat tail will neck up the brass as it is seated.

That is all. One step target ammo and fireforming if you use the 700 grain milsurp AP bullet. This fits in the standard 500 A2 chamber, though not in the magazine.

110 grains of IMR 4350 makes a good fire forming load with 700 to 750 grain bullets.
Brass lasts forever.

I made all my .510/460 Wby brass by using 750 grain Amax bullets seated to 4.75" COL in my Ruger No.1. Plinking at ranges out to 943 yards.

Then I resize them and load with 570 grainers and 110 grains of RL-15 for through the magazine of the BRNO ZKK 602.

Mine loads work best in the BRNO if I seat the 570 grainers out to 3.75" and crimp.

Very simple. Very easy.

Some of my brass has 5 reloads and is still tight in the primer pocket. Needs to be annealed in the neck and shoulder for a go at another 5 loads.
