Today I put 10 shots through my new CZ 550 American Safari Magnum. Recoil was heavy, but very enjoyable. I have seen many posts recommending getting the rifle bedded. Instead of getting it bedded, would adding a muzzlebrake relieve enough stress on the stock to avoid cracking? Thanks

Just add a couple of extra cross bolts and have it bedded......muzzle breaks are a demon, I have one on my .585 Nyati and I will not build another rifle with a break due to noise, I would rather recoil. My cz lott is set up with cross bolts before and aft the mag box it still has the orginal factory through bolt as well.

I second what PC advised...even if you put a muzzle brake on it I would still bed and cross bolt...in fact I would not take another shot with it until that was done! Mine does not have a muzzle brake...
