Anyone have some good load data using a 450gr Barnes X bullet in a 458 Lott and perhaps performance on Buffalo?

Barnes recommends BLC-2 and TAC w the 450 grain TSX.

Check out their website, as they have recommended loads now for many rifle calibers.

http://www.barnesbullets.com/images/458LottWeb.pdf

81 grains BLC-2 is max load and most accurate for the 450 TSX. 2322 fps from 24 inch barrel. Note case length must be trimmed to 2.760 for crimp on bullet.

Barnes recommends 4895 for their banded solid.

There are several highly experienced AR members who use the 450 grain X or TSX on buffalo happily.

Pictured 450 grain X, 450 grain TSX, 450 grain North Fork Cup Point, velocity for Barnes about 2,400 fps, North Fork 2550 fps (NF).

The 450 grain TSX was by far the most useful of the Barnes bullets in my test of premium 458's. I would use it, but prefer the 450 grain bonded North Fork.

Pictured, 400, 450, 500 X bullets. The 500 grain tumbled and lost two petals point forward and almost lost the last two base forward. the 450 kept straight on. I like it.

This 450 TSX was going about 100 fps faster than you can get in a Lott, and by the time it hits your buff should hold together.

I went to the North Fork website. I like their solid shank offerings as well. Much like a Swift in performance. I hear little about them on this forum; just the cup points and solids.

The softs are very good in my somewhat limited experience. I would use them and the FPS and skip the CPS myself.
