Do you check that rechambering a Ruger RSM in 375HH to 375Weatherby would increase or decrease it's value??

Hello fordnutter, I would not think that rechambering the RSM to any other than factory sponsored caliber would do anything but lessen the value of the rifle on the used market. The caliber you mention is obsolete as opposed to the HH which will in all likelyhood be around for another century or so???

To me a rechamber to 375Wby would be worth less. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

I don't think it will affect the value unless poorly done . With the .375 WBY or .375 AI you will gain 200-300fps over the .375H&H According to my Oehler 33!! Was I to do it again I would go with 375WBY just for the factory brass.

The ruger might be worthless in any form but the rechambered to Weatherby is worse! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Leave it. I've got one myself and by seating 300 grain bullets to 3.73-3.78 and using W760 I consistently get in the high 2600's and I'm shooting my brass 10 times before tossing it. When I get into the mid to high 2700's primer pockets will start to loosen after a couple firings. I've got kimbers, Model 70 classic, Whitworth and 1 Remington. Both of my Ruger 77RSM's will out shoot any of my other rifles on most days. I even had one kimber in 375 and there was no comparison. Last Monday at the range my 77 RSM in 375 (1.5-5 Leupold)with 300 grain noslers and 760 shot every group under 1 inch. The smallest was just under .4 inch for 3 shots. My 416 rigby also consistently shoots under an inch with 400 grain noslers or hornady's with RL22. By utilizing the longer OAL allowed in the ruger you can get within 1-2 grains of capacity of the Ackley improved (less with the weatherby)with an OAL of 3.6. I know I've got a ackley improved. With good brass life in both rifles I only get about 40-50 FPS advantage in the ackley improved and it has a 1" longer barrel than the ruger. I was never a big fan of ruger rifles until I picked up my 375. My kimber found a new home. Just my personal experience.

That about mirrors my expierence with Ruger Rifles. Once in a while I get one that won't drive tacks but most are great.

Hello, Very much pro Ruger RSM. Have three of them and each delivers very fine accuracy and works smooth as silk and have a lot of features only custom rifles of two to three times the price have and if RSM's have a fault, it is the so called recoil pad,(I use a leather lace up so as to not alter the stock) but all in all, one heck of a rifle for the money. No need to alter other than the pad and just shoot the gun and enjoy it.
