- So i stop by Cabelas er Bass pro in Glendale AZ which i have avoided for a long time because Cabelas and the gun room took a dive after the merger. Been years. So i kill some time and drove an hour and check out the gun room. Looks like they are getting some interesting stuff back. I find a lonesome CZ 550 .458 chopped to 18” with a brake for $475. Now how could i resist? And for good measure they had a 35 whelen ruger african NIB. Burned up some rewards dollars and felt like i had a good day. I really could not believe the CZ for that price i guess no one knows what they are Big Grin Perfect handy .458

I have an 18" 458 accrell around here somewhere -- wow, what a fireball, but dang is it handy

the cz would be worth double if torn down and sold as an action and then the stock -- you made money when you bought it

Great deal - even if only for the action.

Nowadays, they’re a finite set.

Thank you. Saved me $$$$
I would have bought The 458 in a heartbeat. Everyone needs more 458s, what if you are hunting jackrabbits and it is overheating. Switch out!

Smokin' deal!!!

That would be a really sweet rifle when tracking buffalo through thick stuff.

Can the brake be removed?

Now bust it down and use the action to build something useful.

If the brake comes off and I could get a 500gr past 2100, I'd hunt with that little sumbitch!

Found 458 velocties to be all over the map... Chamber freebore) Always surprises out there, but I think 2100 is pretty optomistic...Would be interesting to see results

with an 18" barrel I'm thinking you'll be doing good to get 1900 fps.
