I've started using Hodgdon Trail boss for cast bullet loads in my .458. I,m loading 16.5 gr. behind a 300 gr. cast bullet. Haven't chronographed it yet but I'm thinking 1200 fps. Hodgdon lists this load for a 45-70 trapdoor. Trail boss is very bulky and burns well at low pressures. velocity is like a new car, always losing value. BC is like diamonds, holding value forever. | |||
