I handled this rifle at the SCI convention a few years ago, and let me tell you it was sweet.

The only things I didn't like about it (apart from the abysmal checkering) were the weird brass screw through the wrist (there was virtually no damage anywhere on this rifle, much less behind the tang) and the price: $25,000.00!

Why would anyone drive a screw through the wrist of an undamaged, original Rigby? It made me want to cry.

Maybe this rifle was actually used for its intended purpose as opposed to being a closet queen, or just one more in a never ending line of purchased rifles in the attempts of finding the perfect one, or ....

Almosts looks to me to be attempt to keep the stock from spliting in the future.

Why because when it was built it was a working gun.

Not being sold to someone who thinks just because it says Rigby that it is a better rifle then others.

I personally find that if one is buying a working gun there are a lot better values out there in a lot better rifles then the way over price english guns.

But if that is how one wants to spend you money go ahead.

And it isn't worth the 25K as it is not a stock unaltered factory Rigby regardless of the intent of the screw job.

Here's a mint original that Lewis Drake had for sale recently. Asking price was $32K, it didn't last long.

How can you even put a price on a like new original Rigby? It is an irreplacable masterpiece.

The .416 'Closet Queen' with 40K+ tag is no longer at Schwandt Classic Arms. Don't let mere 25K and American gunsmithing keep you from owning this 'Gem'. rotflmo
The Rigby bolt gun is just a tool. Johannsen make a new clone for a lot less.
Here is couple good ones:
'Helmut'
These are about equal in quality, and English shit smells just as bad, so what's the deal? bewildered
'Rolfie'
Don't worry, you can cover that rubber with pigskin or goatskin to look more English. cheers
Actually those German ones are probably higher quality then that English MAUSER.
