While reading Handloader online magazine, I've found interesting these two arguments, but if I got some info about the cartridge, no info on Cross Outdoors, that should be the company that build rifles in .500 Cyrus caliber using Montana 1999 action. here on Accuratereloading there is one or two topics on .500 Cyrus but not too much on the company. Does it still exist? all the temptatives to find a internet site failed. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

Thank you, on Handloader e-magazine there is the following infos: "Cyrus’s company is called Cross Outdoors (267-733-3569) and is the only place you can get a .500 Cyrus rifle." sorry for my persistence in asking about the company but it was incredible and unbelivable to me that a company, to day, does not have a Internet site or an e-mail address. I made searches in Google but there is not too much on the caliber on Michael Cyrus and more or less nothing on Cross Otdoors. Thak you again for your patience. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

And don't sell your 500AccRelNyati short (.510"), it is still a great cartridge with a wide selection of bullets. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

I don't know, I do not need it (I think) and my 9.3x62 is probably more than enough for every thing here in Europe and probably for the major part of the countries that I can visit for hunting. But sometime, guys like us, get in the vicious cyrcle that mine is bigger than your/yours, where you can put more or less everything where your/yours is. "It’s not that full-power loads from the .500 Cyrus pound your shoulder into gelatin, t’s the neck-breaking sensation you get every time the trigger is pulled. The cartridge feels like a roll of dimes. When fired from the 8.5-pound custom rifle designed for it, you’ll not only think it kicks like a mule, but you’ll also be thinking of a name for that mule, which could not be repeated in church." With these words Richard Mann describes the sensations he had shooting the.500 Cyrus. Imagine to be at the range and challenge another shooter in shooting it. It can be an interesting experience. GeorgeS thank you, I'm going to save your information. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

Surprisngingly, Hodgdon lists loads for the 500 Cyrus, although not of the many other 50 cal wildcats. http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle Hodgdon should do the 500AccRel, 500A2, et al. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

Steve, That wasn't meant as a "mine it better" it was meant as a "mine is available" - I've shot the cyrus -- its not a bad round at all, fun to shoot, and fairly light recoil for the external ballistics. anyone that thinks it's a horrible shoulder pounder ... well, let's suffice to say that i disagree -- though I still find the 300 rum to be unfun to shoot ... Thanks Tanz -- the 500 AR+N is a great round for .510 bullets -- trying to judge it externally here -- it fits standard actions, delivers 500 jeffe or better performance, and uses less powder for less recoil ... hoping for the same on the 490 opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Thank you all, 416Tanzan, I'm not surprised only because on Handloader e-magazine there are the Hogdon loads and the interesting history of the caliber. Jeffeosso, in the same article Richard Mann says that reduced loads are quite manageable by more or less everyone, but big cases as.300 RUM or very big scare the major part f the shooters. At the rang I usually accept to prove any kind of rifle, Big game rifle included, but I'm a brave R.O., a lot of people refuse. BYE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR bye Stefano Waidmannsheil
