Now does anyone on the forum know where bullets for a .470-Capstick can be purchased in the 600 grain bullet weight?

I ran some numbers today and came up with some impressive readings, with using a 600 grain bullet. I was also curious as to what the 600 grian bullet would bring in various categories such as: 470-Capstick at 2200fps!

Wound Channel = 2.73 dia. in inches.

Relative Penetration = 31.5 with 500 grn & 38 with 600 grn bullet.

Taylor K O Value: = 78 @ 500 & 90 @ 600 grn bullet. The 460-Wby with 500 grn bullet at 2500fps develops an 85!

Thornly Stopping Power: 344 @ 500 & 380 @ 600 grn bullet. The .460-Wby was 351 @ 500grs.

The only current production is Hawk bullets. Barnes made 600 grainers in the original line but they are now discontinued.

here is the hawk link;

Buckeyeshooter I called HAWK bullets and the fellow was great to speak with regarding those 600 grain bullets. It is a special order but no big deal.......Thanks again!

I am going to try some of those 600 grn bullets just so my eyes can read the velocity on the "chrony" and see for myself the penetration between the 2 bullet weights in soaking wet news print.

I am hoping to get at least 2200-fps from this .470-Capstick using 600grn......don't know but should be fact finding when it is all done.

Why you ask? Well my Daddy asked me years ago,when I was 14yrs old "Son, why did you climb up on top of that radio tower"? ( 300-ft up) Well I said it was there and it seemed like a good thing to do at the time.

Sectional Density is .4086 - and I think you'll have
a tough time stabilizing it based on the data that
we've had provided to us here on AR by michael458,
srose and others. But heck, we're rootin' for a HIT!

Big Five Jack, most likely will go with those 550 grain bullets of Woodleigh but I will try several others before writing things in stone.
