Does anyone know if this company is still in buisness? A friend of mine gave them a deposit on a new Double that they were to install their muzzle brake system on, and he has not heard from them. I think the owner of the company is Don White? Any contact information would be appreciated. If your parents didn't have any children chances are you won't either.

I understand that they are no longer in business. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I heard they changed ownership a few years ago; I think the original owner was Don Johnson. You might check with Williams Gun Sights in Davison, Mi., I believe they still do the Answer Brake. I've had one on a 300 Mag. for years, nice brake. Talk is cheap - except when Congress does it. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin' NRA Life Member

Sam Johnson was the founder, he sold to Don White, now the company appears to have gone under. ![]() Contact Adrook here on AR to hear how well the muzzle brake works on a .450 Dakota calibered Wff Hein Rifle. Jack OH GOD! {Seriously, we need the help.}

Sam Johnson was quite a character. I hope he simply retired and is doing okay. When he held the reins, Answer put brakes on two rifles for me. I told him I wanted knurled caps to replace the brakes for field use. He said, "What the hell do you want to do that for." I said, "Because a brake is too loud for use when hunting and I don't want to damage my hearing any more than I already have." He replied, "What? Say again?" I laughed, and said again, but he just went on about how his brakes wouldn't hurt my hearing and I never figured out if he was only kidding around with his deaf man's reply. As Jack said I have a Hein .450 Dakota with the Answer brake. It works very well, there is a tremendous reduction in felt recoil with the brake installed. I would not even think of shooting the .450 from the bench without a lead sled or the like as it is a handful when standing up but with the brake installed it is no problem at all from the bench. I would compare the recoil with the brake installed to be about like my .375 H&H or my 45-70 Guide Gun. A fair amount of kick but nothing like an unbraked .450. Andy
