What do I need to trim 585 Nyati cases? I have a Forster trimmer for standard stuff and one for 50BMG, but neither will do the 585.

i made my own from a harbor freight mini chop saw ... caution, it's dangerous

i made a "tail stock" from a piece of alum, bent 90, off the left side, and put in a screw in the vertical to act as a depth stop that can be finely tuned -- adjust the depth, make an obviously too long test cut, and tune into correct length - chop, rotate 180, chop again .. makes a workable edge as well

Someone made me a cutter that fits in the Wilson trimmer.

Works great.

If you are not trimming many cases, I suggest you get a pipe deburring tool.

A few turners will reduce the length.

It is what I use for deburring 577, 600 and 700 brass.

If you have the Forester 50BMG trimmer, the cutter is just big enough. Not sure of the caseholder for Nyati, but I use it to trim 577NE

I used a plumber's copper tubing cutter when working with a 577 Nitro. Straight cut and only a little rim. "Course I've been a Journeyman plumber for 56 years.

10-14 months wait --
an hour's work in the shop for the same results

I had to trim some .461 Gibbs #2 cases down recently. They wouldn't fit in any trimmer that I had so I chucked the case into a lathe collet that fit the rim diameter and put a piloted Forester cutter in the drill chuck on the tailstock. It wasn't perfect but it worked.

I've used a counterbore for socket head cap screws, locktited a sleeve that was turned down to be a slip fit inside the Nyati case over the pilot, then used my metal lathe to trim them. Did the same thing for 600 OK cases as well.
