I have two .375/.505 . If it helps, one 133 gr Retumbo the other 141 gr Retumbo. My .338/505 I use BMG 144 gr.

I ordered a .416/585 VM from Dave Viers but never arrived. Look forward to seeing how yours works out...still on my bucket list.

More miss adventures at the range about 13 or so years ago I started building a extreme range rifle. I got one of the first Montana ph actions with a 505 Gibbs mag bolt face. A Harry Tate if I remember right sold me a never used 416x505 wild cat reamer. I found a 32” bull barrel blank 1.125 “ dia 14"twist. I had worked with MPI. On a stocking the magnum size action. So I had then cast one on their A5 model. It did not take long to get it barreled chambered and ruff bedded in the stock . I sent the reamer off for custom match dies. The dies took a couple months and cost 400 bucks but are worth every penny. It only took a year to get something to resemble what I call “my poor man’s chytac “. I found some rail stock but could not find some one to machine it. Fast forward 8 years I got it done last week.Big Burtha is not all prettied up yet. She needs some finishing work but is ready for her first trip to the range. First photo bottom left 308, 6.5x3006, a fireformed 416x505 case, a 505 necked down and loaded ready for forming, A close up on the double shoulder and a formed case after firing My fire forming load was 120 gr of rl 26 bullet seated long into the lands with minimal headspace. 2714,2697,2738,2717 fps , one load at 125 grs gave 2866 FPS, a load of 130 for 3047 FPS. Bolt lift was real easy , the 130 gr load started to flatten the primers. That’s only 5 rounds through the barrel after 25 or so the barrel should get faster and more consistent! I had her in a lead sled, with a good recoil pad and a brake she should be real pleasant to shot. I have a ton more room for powder and a heavier longer bullet. With 450’s loaded long and feed single we should see 3000. The 350 ttsx Starting out at 3000 will need 27.9 moa to get to 1000 will remain super sonic till 1200 yards with 1200 foot lbs of energy. With the hornady 450 gr match at 2900 22 moa to get to a 1000 56 moa to a mile. It is still super sonic at 1264 FPS and almost 1600 ft lbs of energy at one mile . I would not try it but still strong elk medicine.
