Canuck, thanks a lot. The 416 taylor looks a nice little beastie too I guess 300 or 350grs of that running at say 2300fps could make the 375 pretty redundant in terms of PG as a bush rifle. Have you tried ?

I have tried the 350gr bullets in my 416 Taylor, and get 2500fps pretty easy. Yep, it does make the 375 pretty redundant as a bush rifle...but don't tell my wife.
I like the ballistics/trajectory of the 260 or 270gr .375 for all purpose elk/moose hunting. And my 416 Taylor is a little heavy for lugging around the hills all day, so the 375 Ruger looks like a handy package...lots of power in a trim, relatively light rifle.

Paolo9,5x73Factory cartridge reminds me of necked up .35 Newton.

CanuckNot far off I would guess. In the July 2007 Shooting Times there is an article on the 375 Ruger and they have a pic comparing the 30-06 to the 30 Newton to the 375 Ruger. Other than being a little shorter, the 30 Newton case is pretty dang close to the Ruger.

boom stickthe 35 newtom made by western was measuring 527/528 and the ruger is measuring 529 casehead. the minimal taper, longer case and forward shoulder all is giving a pretty good capacity.
the 416 ruger will be a popular wildcat unless ruger pulls the trigger to make it saami and factory.

There is no evidence ofthis so mfar but it's possible.....it's already a popular (of sorts) wildcat as my reamer is one of many made by PTG!
