| Hey Robert, H4895 62.5gr. Easy extraction and no flattened primers. 2145-2150fps and safe in my gun. Barrels are different, so I would reduce load by 10% and work up. The recoil was mild also. I worked up loads with 3031 and H335 and finally settled on H4895. Horneber brass is difficult to get here in the states in 10.75. Huntingtons had it at one time and I purchased 3 boxes. Hope they order more in the future. Bob |

| VFR1, what primers are you using with your 400 grain Swift A-Frame and H4895 loads?

| Hey Bob, thank you for sharing your load, I will of course start lower and work up. Is it impossible to import the brass from Germany directly? Robert |

| Mike, The primers used were CCI 250s. Guys, I called Huntingtons today and spoke with them about Horneber 10.75 cases. He has an order in, they have his $, but Horneber is moving their shop location. He has no idea when the order will be filled. I may just rechamber to 404 if good brass is no longer available. Just load to the original 2150-2200fps. Bob |

| Horneber is slow even when they're not moving the shop. Might be better to contact Jamison and see what they can do. I'd be in for a batch of FORMED cases if they were available. |

| Buffalo arms has brass made from new belted brass turned to proper specs. It's good stuff, nearly $3 apiece if bought by the 20 ct, but it's readly available. |

| Hello Bob, I just spoke (10.12.2010, 11:30 German time) to Mr. Horneber himself via phone. In the back I heard the machines running. He has not intentions or plans to move the production or shop location, the last move was done in 1998! The next run of 10,75x68 cases will be made end of February beginning March 2011. So honestly, I do not understand the comments from Huntingtons.
His is producing the cases in batches some of them only once a year, So if the batch is sold out quickly the time for the next is sometimes very long.

| Macifej, I would be in for some Jamison brass also. They make all sorts of oddball stuff, why not 10.75x68?? Robert, I will wait until the spring before I make plans to rechamber. If we can get 10.75, I will buy enough to last me a life time. Although with Hornady making .404 brass, I can't think of a better reason to do it. Bob |

| I would be interested in some more Horniber brass for my Hoffman 10,75x68. I load 380 gr. flat nose solids @ 2150 f/s.My favorite bullet is the 350 gr. X bullet that is no longer produced. Perhaps Forest could persuade Barnes to make another run of them. I would buy 10 boxes to feed all of my 10.75 clan!

| I'd be in for a half dozen boxes also. Maybe one of the vendors at the DSC will have some. |

| I am now working on the 10.75's big brother. I purchased Geoff's .404 bbl/action off the AR classifieds. I'll get Bob Sweda to finish the stock and Todd Johnson to do the rusting. If you haven't seen the classified, the .404 is on a 1909 Argentine. Bob |

| Speaking of 10.75 cal bullets, here's a bit of a puzzler. The nickel coloured steel jacketed flat nose pictured is an early original RWS 347gr while the copper coloured and also steel jacketed RWS hollow point bullet shown weighs exactly 280gr. It is 0.978" in length with a 11/64" hollow point to a depth of 0.700" (yes that deep). From all appearances the hollow point does not seem to have been drilled, it looks like a factory formed hollow. The 347gr bullets are a little longer at 1.015". I pulled this 280gr bullet from an unfired Berdan primed Norma 10.75x68 case which did not have any powder in it. It appears someone has made up this 'dummy' round at some stage. I recall bringing it back from Germany. If the 280gr is indeed a factory made bullet in that weight perhaps it was made for the smaller 10.75x57 or 10.75x47 Mauser rimmed round? Anyone come across such a bullet before? |
