I just realize today, when I go to a gun shop, I have developed a habit of, very first thing, walking down the line of rifles and eyeball the size of the bore hole. Trolling for big-uns. Big Grin

I was at the range with a buddy a few weeks ago with my Lott and my .470. My buddy refused to shoot either of them.

> Alot of these are perfectly spot on . But Arctic's and John's , with his " when you go to the range and realize you have the biggest rifle there , then realize your wife has the 2nd biggest .Are perfect rotflmo rotflmo. I got tired of the " got wheels for that " when I had my 500 A-Sq. ......Townsend Whelan may have said " only accurate rifles are interesting " but I think thats not really the case ... By and large only BIG rifles are interesting .....And they all tend to be PLENTY accurate ............

It usually starts with a great deal on a 375H&H. Although I had previously owned a 458#1 Tropical and 45-70#1 Sporter. When you go to Big Bore shoots and walk over to the guy with the 4 Bore and say "I'm your huckleberry. Gimme one of them shells I wanna shoot that one!." Doing so while everyone else is poking each other saying "you shoot it.....no you shoot it...etc." Then you want to shoot all the other big guns at the shoot. Perhaps a few more months you find a steal on a 600 Over Kill and even though you really don't need it or know what to shoot with it besides dangerous 55gallon drums, you buy it anyway!

and you shoot smaller groups with your 500 than they do with their 7mm rifles.

How about, after putting three rounds down range, you put the gun down, turn around, and there are 15 people staring at you with their jaws open.

Or someone asks if your wife is shooting a .270 or 7mm-08 and you say no, that is a 450/400 nitro express, and they walk away with their tail between their legs.

One of the ranges i go to has a bunch of young ROs .. and it never fails, the runt of the litter is the one that will take whatever i am shooting (500 jeff, 550 express, 500 AR, whatever) and then then pop one off... and ask for another round ... and generally, i have enough ammo so i can let him shoot till he's punchie ... then ALL his friend wanna shoot it...

When you ask for a standing bench ... and you politely warn the JERK with a brass chukcing autoloader "sir, this is going to be a big loud" .. and he chuckles at you ... then looks up as if he just missed being hit by lightening, but his feet are tingling.

when your 11# of ammo limit is REALLY a limit. thats only 60 rounds of 577 ne, and bout 63 rounds of 550 express or 500 Ar...
