The problem is a 35 cent screw that is short a coil or two..All custom bottom metal has a strong spring or should have...I can't imagine why someone would want a screw in a floorplate or 10 penny nail or a roll of tape on a fine rifle.. I assure you that if you replace the spring with a longer one than it has, you will fix the problem up to a 50 cal. BMG as gunsmiths have done for several hundred years now... However if a spring didn't suit me then I would order a old European Lever release from Brownell, they are classic and sure as hell won't open up and go "ping"...they are not expensive either.
