The Lott I shot was in a Ruger #1 which is too light and doesn't fit me. Still I stand by my statement that it wouldn't hurt to try out somebody elses before buying one.

500, Only in the magazines my boy, and only to those who have become numb from the waist up... A stock can and does make a big difference but it ain't no cure for the Lott and 505...nor is the combo of a good stock and a muzzle break, the 458 Lott, 505 and 460 etc kick the snot out of some of us... Can I shoot them, yes I can with concentration and standing up, but thats about it with me...I get the job of filing in sights on these monster from time to time z( benchrested ) and I really dred it and if you flinch and file, then you just messed up a set of $100 sights..I have several sets of used sights in my tool box from such mistakes. I can build one of these guns at 13 lbs and shoot it quite well, then I can't pack it all day...I like 9 lb. rifles... Your a very fortunate lad to be able to take that kind of pounding, but you will pay for your sins in the end, and probably not too far down the line...The brain bouncing back and fourth in the skull can cause a lot of problems, and if your lucky like me and have no brain, then all you have to worry about is chronic bursitis, hearing problems from the recoil not noise, and a few other old age payments for your youthfull activity....but it just may be worth it, maybe!

I'm not a recoil junkie but I think it's best to shoot the heavy hitters standing up. I read recently that Rigby shoots them in that way. About as much fun as I can stand is my 450 Dakota from the bench. I once put 20 rounds through it after a day of 375. I don't flinch with a Lott but Nikudu's loads aren't punishing either. I have a 416 Rigby and it is enough to know you've been out shooting. The Rigby is definately easier on you.
