A buddy of mine recently passed away. He hunted Africa several times. One of the rifles his widow is selling is a CZ550 in 416 Rigby. It is a right handed gun. It is as it came from the factory. It is in great shape, was only fired 10 times. It never went to Africa. I found one on Guns International for over $3000. What do you feel is a good price for the rifle? I have offered to help sell it and want to make sure she receives a reasonable price.

Idk if I would pay 3k for a stock cz, but I haven't bought a new one in 10+ years, which was when they were submitted 1k.. I think a low but fair price would be 1500-2k opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Now that they are out of production, they tend to bring more. I have sold several in what I feel are less desirable calibers and not the condition that you describe for around 1800$. I would price that rifle around 2.5K and see if it moves. Caliber and condition drive price and move rifles in my experience. Good luck in helping your friends widow with the sale.

Mike, I agree with Steve. The safari caliber CZs sell well. I think the .416 Rigby caliber makes yours desirable too. After CZ stopped making the 550s and Ruger stopped making the RSMs, there are just not any good options for a Mauser-style, affordable safari rifle these days. You can still do the Ruger Hawkeyes but you are going to have to use the .375 or .416 Ruger chambering. I would offer it for $2500 and see what happens. Mike

Wow! Then my CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery would probably bring what I have into it, $3500. ![]() Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"

I am aware of a recent sale of a .505 Gibbs out of the custom shop that sold for $4000, so I do not think $3500 for a .500 Jeffery with a really nice stock would be out of line at all. Mike

I'd venture to say that a CZ in the condition and configuration of Chuck's rifle would go for $5000+ right now.

Chuck if you ever decide to sell I would gladly buy that rifle for $3500. I agree with Steve and Mr. Jines, CZ550s in magnum calibers, and particularly 416 and above, are commanding a high premium these days. The American style stocked rifles seem to be more attractive as well, but many still buy the hogback rifles and shoot as-is or swap the stock.

Thanks whiskey. It not only looks good but it shoots sub MOA easily and feeds and functions flawlessly, a big thing for a 500 Jeffery ![]() Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"
