Where is a good source for the drop box Mauser trigger guard that I wouldn't have to give up my first born. Collecting my parts cache for my first big bore on somewhat of a budget. I think on a 458 lott it should have a dropped box mag. That extra round might just save my biscuits someday. Thanks a bunch in advance. OC, you can buy a CZ in 458 lott for 800, or a jerryfisher drop box for a mauser for 499... so for the price of the bottom and the barrel, you could have a CZ ready to shoot... and it holds a fist full of them http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=716262 opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I am putting a Sunny Hill on my 416 Rem. They are expensive but I don't know of any other option unless you can find one in an auction or classifieds. I was really wanting the Blackburn as I was familiar with their products but the wait is on the ridiculous side. The Sunny Hill is as good if not better than the Blackburn.

olcrip, Wisner makes an extended box for the CZ IIRC, and my buddies's stock 375 holds six rounds...should be the same in 416Rem or 458 Lott. Rich DRSS

Jeffeosso, I considered the CZ550 and it would be a cheaper way to go. I have a magnum Santa Barbara barreled action with a Douglas 458 barrel. I'm minus the bottom metal, which I could rob from another action. I would rather get the drop box and continue from there. It would be my first big bore project. It will cost me more in the long run but it will be my own custom. It may take many moon to complete but it will have pride in ownership because it was I that built it. I really don't have a need for a big bore, other than maybe a Kodiak hunt in Alaska someday. I have a 375 Rum for that hunt anyway. Just an inkling for a new endeavor to work on. Rich, who handles the wisner bottom metals or is there a link to a web site I can check out? Thanks for the reply's guys. I own three sunny-hill triggerguard assemblies, and they are close to perfection, for my taste better than the one that manufactures Recknagel. Ignacio Colomer

FYI I stopped making Custom Trigger Guards in 2002. I simply do not have any time to do them any more. I have a (few) guards left over from those days for the Obendorf Magnum Mauser, and Brevex in 416 Rigby, and a couple more but that is it. Simply not enough time to make custom guards any more. The custom floorpates are another matter, you will find them on our webiste, www.wisnersinc.com I make them for the 1909 Arg guard and the CZ 550, and they will also fit the Brno 602 James Wisner Custom Metalsmith

As I understand from his website, Stuart Satterlee will make custom bottom metal for a customers action.

Unless money is no object, this is pretty good advice. CZ550s and ZKK602s come with a fairly decent drop box magazine and aren't that expensive to begin with. Add a Wisner floorplate for $65 and you can shoot all day, especially with a 375. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

Thanks Keith. I talked to Jim today at Wisners and got his last dropped box trigger guard and follower for the Santa Barbara Mauser. It'll be on it's way first part of next week. This means that I will have to keep doing side jobs to get the rest of my pcs. It's getting exciting. I will most likely be searching for a stout stock blank. Friends are saying Laminate but I sure would like to have a nice piece of walnut. I think it's more traditional. Olcrip, Nuclear Grade UBC Ret.
