Hi, I've spotted a nice M70 Safari cal. 416 Rem. mag. on a classified ad. The rifle should be like new; it is very attractive and close to my place. The owner would trade it for a couple of pistols/revolvers. However, it seems that 416 Rem. ammos/brass are quite difficult to find; what are your thoughts? | ||

I can only speak for availability in the States, which is generally easy to order off the internet. Most Sportsmans Warehouse, Bass Pro and Cabela's stores stock both ammo and brass. But, your situation in Italy might be greatly different. Prayer, planning, preperation, perseverence, proper procedure, and positive attitude, positively prevents poor performance. | |||

Winchester M70 is as good as it gets! I have 3 Win M70 416 Remingtons. Fine rifles. You will be able to find brass and ammo I am sure. Just fire off some .375 H&H factory ammo in the .416 RemMag and you will have some perfectly fire-formed working brass for practice. That is an advantage of the H&H belt. Hornady or other .375 H&H basic cylindrical brass with blank headstamp is easily formed into .416 RemMag by a pass through the standard sizing die of a handloader's die set. You can hand engrave that blank headstamp yourself. Acquire the proper headstamp factory ammo and/or brass for travel. | |||

i like my .416... ive taken a nice axis with it... and busted lots of rocks and several dangerous water jugs... ive only fed it factory remington 400 gr barnes solids, and it shoots those into less than an inch at 50, off of sticks... go big or go home ........ Winchester M70s bore size 416-.500 caliber 38 rifles. Winchester M70s 338-9.3 caliber 19 rifles. If it does now say Winchester on it, stay at home. My first Winchester M70 was a 458 Winchester with a 22 inch barrel. Still have it too, although retired now. RIP Excellent taking the 375 H&H and making 416 out of it. I have never thought of that, but I have a 1000 pieces of 416. I used to take the 416 and make 458 Lott and 470 Capstick out of it, that's why I have so much of it. Plus using it just for 416s. My 416 Rem. is a highly accurate rifle. I wouldn't trade it for another. | |||
