"Until recently the most powerful cartridge for double-barreled elephant rifles was the fabled .600 Nitro Express, which delivered a thumb-sized, 900-grain slug at nearly four tons of muzzle energy. Then Holland & Holland brought forth a .700 Nitro of even greater power. I fired one of these at H&H's London test site, and the best way I can explain the experience is that one shot definitely gets you out of the mood for a fast follow-up shot-especially at over $100 per pop. Yet I'm told that several rifles in this caliber have been ordered and there's even rumor of an .800 Nitro."
I would rather carry a 9-1/2 pound 458 Lott that I can shoot. Hell, I can't hold a 16 pound .600 up and aim, much less a .700 or .800, who knows what they weigh.
More toys for the rich and not famous.

Primarily I would be using it on foxes under the spotlight
Lastly If I bought a cz in .416 Rigby could I rebarrel to 800 nitro, would there be enough left on the bolt face
And just to top it off, if I chambered a Marlin 1895 lever gun for the 800 nitro and had it feeding & extracting perfectly would it be ethical to hunt Dangerous game with it ?

I can not see the need for such a gun. All that is really needed for to ultimate in DGR technology,is for Seirra to get off its ass and make a .458 MatchKing, thus turning the 45-70 Gov't in the endall killing machine!!
.800 NE? Has someone found a herd of dinosaurs? I love nitro express doubles myself, but thats just silly. Why not ask Hollands to build you a double in 105mm Howitzer or something.

Not so, no matter what external ballistics you come up with, it wont work if the rifle has a leaver some were on it.

Some years ago, the John Rigby company under Paul Roberts' chairmanship at the old London address collaborated with Joseph Hambrusch company to make a modern 10 bore rifle which used nitro powder called the 775 Rigby. Hambrusch also make 8, 4 and even 2 bore double rifles.
