I just got some photos of the barrel for my 500 Jeffery and thought I'd share them.

Thanks again to Tailgunner for showing me how to do this.

That's a nice barrelled action. Don't leave us hanging, how some specs on 'em. Is the barrel stainless with a stainless action?

I was trying to get another picture up and I think I ended up erasing it. Anyway, the action and barrel are regular steel. The action is from Granite Mt. The barrel is 22". The 1/4 rib, recoil lug, and front sling stud are milled out of the barrel blank. The bridges on the action will be lowered 1/10" to get the scope mount lower. The floorplate is going to get a extended tang added to it to help reinforce the pistol grip in the stock.

I believe Blackburn did the bottom metal.

Sweet. That'll work.

Did the barrel come from GMA as well?

I ordered the rifle through George Sandmann at Empire Rifles. This is the only custom rifle I have ever ordered. George has been great to work with. I'd recommend him to anyone.

The barrel was made by Dan Pederson, Classic Barrels.

This is the blank for the rifle. It came from the Dressel's, nice people. Big Grin

Very nice!

What sort of mounts will you be using with the square bridges? Something machined into them like a swingmount?

The blank is just about PERFECT...

this is merely my tastes, and that would be to move it down and back .75" or so, to maybe capture more of the butt... but, then again, the wrist is AWESOME where it's at

I'm having claw mounts machined into the bridges. I'll be using a Luepold 1.5-5x scope. I originally ordered a Swarokski, but after getting bit servral times by a Smidt & Bender 1.5x6 on my 375 Ultra I decided to go to the local gunshop and actually measure the eye relief of the scopes. All of the European scopes I measured had 2.5 - 2.75" of eye relief from the housing. I guess they get their stats by measuring from the lens and not the housing. Anyway, the Leupold has a soild 4" of eye relief.

The drawing on the stock was from the Dressels for demonstration. I believe it will actually be cut from the butt forward. I know he's cutting left to right. Hopefully the character will even out. I'll be happy even if it doesn't. Big Grin

Potts, I don't know how long the rib is. These photos where sent to me by George. I haven't actually gotten my hands on it yet. The front sight is soldered on and has a standard flip up night sight. The rest of the barrel is milled from the blank. Dan wasn't able to mill the front sight base because of the size.

JJS, love to go shooting with you as soon as I get it. Big Grin

Gringo, I'm just down the road in Southaven, MS. I'd love to see it in person when it's complete. If you need a place to let a few rounds go, give me shout. I'll hook you up.

Sorry bewildered shot my remaining supply last week roflmao By the time yours is finished John Ricks should be done with my .375 H&H (my 1st DGR). Mine is very humble compaired yours, but it should be a lot fun to shoot.
