Whats a 375 Ruger necked up to 458 called?
No its not the opening line to a joke - its a legit question. I assume this was an established wildcat, if not a production cartridge. However my google enquiries just turn up Ruger rifles chambered in 458Win. I am just wondering if someone "invented" it and named it something else, because it seems incomprehensible that no one has tried it.

I don't know but suggest you take the question to the 458 Winchester Magnum thread, where all matters 458 are known.

Also, since RIP is on a mission to get it to 459 chapters, he will be happy to see you Smiler

Ruger has not necked up the 375 Ruger case. I am sure someone has necked the 375 Ruger case to 458, but have not see one and have not heard of it.

With the down turn in Safari untimg simc 2010iah, I doubt we will see a commercial 458 Ruger. At least, not by Ruger. They also have a new CEO and the modern major firearms manufacturers are focusing on cheap, plastic, and high capacity.

Subject is dated, and today there is a 416 Ruger, no 458 Ruger as yet, other than a number of necked up 375 and 416 Rugers have been necked up to 458 Ruger caliber Im sure..its a natural step to take.

Jawohl! Thanks for the guidance, Paul, for THE MISSION.
Make that 461 chapters/thread pages as the goal,
for no reason in particular,
except that .461 is the best caliber of cast-lead bullet for the usual (almost universal) .459"-grooved .458 WIN barrel.

I will go find what page to look at on the .458 WIN thread for info on the .458 WinRuger.
Search function.

Maybe start on page 66.

This is from pages 67-68:

Notice barrel stamping: "Cal. 458 Win.^RUGER"

Yep, subject is "dated" as Atkinson said.
Dated over a year ago.
I would be most happy to answer any further questions about the .458 WINRUGER on the ".458 WIN Everlasting" thread, go here:

.458 WIN "What Cheer" EVERLASTING

for THE MISSION.

Why not just call it a 458 Ruger? What does Win have to do with it?
Personally I think 460 Blacktailer has a certain ring to it. Cool

Hey! It is not a .458 WHINER-Ruger, it is a .458 WIN-Ruger.

The .458 Winchester Magnum Throat has everything to do with it,
hence ".458 WinRuger."
