Yep and the 50BMg is still legal in some states here too.I found a 375-50 for sale recently but I'm too lazy to take on that level of monster. I'll stick to the "light enough to be carried all day, normal reloading gear etc." schtick for this one.

Hey Karl !! Have you beeing able to exceed 2600 fps with your .585 yet !! Could you show me the case,,and the rifle ? When will we see this or other cartridges on the board ?
Check out Prairie Gun Works website....the 375 and 416 PGW is their answer to the 408 Chey-Tac, which the US army is currently testing as a sniper round. 440 grain bullet at 2800fps? Something like that. Sounds like fun, but the dollar price of a PGW is pretty wicked....I guess you pay for quality.
Have any of of thought about how it will be shooting one of these monsters
I think that they shall build a Blaser r-93 in these calibers. It wil be the first gun to orbit the moon, just think how the recoil would be in a light gun
Karl If the 416PGW is based on the 505Gibbs then it sounds like my 416sw I guess maybe they were first? I picked mine up early last year (feb?) but I had placed order and paid deposit Jan 2001. Mine is a 505Gibbs improved necked down to 416 and the neck shortened to 76mm (about 2mm I think) the neck shortening was done to allow crimping in the cannelure of a Woodleigh 410grn and still fit in the mag of the Bauska action, mine is about 98mm long. My gunsmith still has my reamer, I think he also still has a Bauska action in the white for sale. One word of advise though don't use Bertram brass see topic for my tale of woe. http://www.serveroptions.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=16;t=002727 With the Bertram brass I have only been able to get 2810fps with the Woodleigh solids, still to finish load work up with the sp, but at the moment I'm 4 grains more powder with the sp. I have ordered some Horneber brass through/with 500 Nitro and hopefully will get more vel with it.
