i want to remove the front sling mount off my M77 MK2 458 LOTT. Does the front sight have to be removed to do this?

My Lott is a CZ 550 458 American Safari and it shoots just fine with the sling. But if you do not like it Then take it off.

It's more than likely unless the barrel band is split in situ somehow.

Unless your front sight base is soldered on, it should just be a matter of a couple of screws to remove it.

they are soldered on, both front sight and band, iirc.. and if its through the forearm, i can understand.. if its out on the barrel.. just forget about it

If it was soldered on the barrel, then it might be an option to carefully grind it back. then file it round and sand and polish. A skilled hand could do that easy enough. Then you would have a useless ring. If that would suite you.
