I did not shoot for the ear/head, all were body shots.

I have shot a lot of game with the 9,3x74R including elephant [at 5 yards, brain shot] and cape buff, both one shot kills, the buff was down and dead in less than 40 yards.

The 9,3x74R continues to suprize me.

Sent you photos this morning via email. Check them out, get back to me with thoughts.

RIP

Excellent RIP! It seems you have most bases covered. I am still working with it. I see lot's of potential.

Andy
Might be correct about the cuts--fragment on this bullet is not exactly what one wants. Probably the shape of cut might control that, a rounded cut like you see on the bullet currently, instead of a sharper cut designed to cause the bullet too much upset. Maybe????

450

I had a very very similar experience with a giraffe a few years ago with a Marlin Guide in 45/70.. Playing around with 460 gr Cast Performance at 1750 fps. The 45/70 was along for the ride, not primary rifle. Saw the big bull giraffe, grabbed the Marlin with 4 of these in the tube and gone. No extra ammo! Hit once on the shoulder and off to the races-hit another shoulder shot on right side of giraffe. He runs, I run, he turns around and goes back the other way, like one of those duck shoots at the carnival! Now I have the left side and hit him twice there--still goes another 100 yds before going down!!!!!

Then in 2006 doing my test work with the first prototype 50. I hit one on the shoulder with a 500 Hornady at 1900 fps--he goes 10 steps, stops, starts to waiver, I have a little elevation on him from the rear, so I pop him between the shoulder blades into the spine with guess what? A round nose solid ends the affair! Heh! But 10 steps and basically it was over! They are big tough animals! Good for testing bullets I suppose!

I recently became interested in 9.3 and built a rifle Win M70 in 9.3X338. Have not started work with it yet, but received dies this week and probably get started with it when I return from Alaska. Lot's of good bullets in 9.3 these days!

You are a wild one I think! I hope no hate mail from the 45/70 crowd, I am one of them! I must have about a dozen 45/70s. Of course I have been converting some to .500!

I love to hunt bears! Glad you liked the pics, sent you a return email a few minutes ago.

Hey Kid

I was thinking about your bears! I don't think any of them picked up the lastest "Big Bore Bowl'em Over Magazine". Had they done proper research they would have known just to fall over at the sight of those big bore bullets chasing them! Probably would not have even had to fire a round had they read all about "Muzzle Energy"! Maybe if they had read all the information we have been providing them right here, they would have known better than to run! Maybe we should drop some propaganda out, get the bears a little better prepared maybe. Heh! Big Grin
I also learned how to do the little smiley things recently!
