Take a look at the Cobb MCR-400: http://www.cobb50.com/mcr.htm

The thought of turning a BAR into a .458 WM has always been interesting to me, but this takes semi-auto bigbores to a new level. They are available in .300 H+H, .375H+H, .378 Weatherby, .416 Rigby and .458 WM as well as many other chamberings.

Now, since they can be had in .458 WM and .378 Weatherby, then a .450 Rigby or 458 Lott seem like an easy conversion. Maby even a .500 A-square or .550 RNS.

Hmm...A semi-auto .550. Just what the paranoid sportsman with an active imagination needs when multiple pachyderms comes charging in simultaneously.

These seem kind of pimpish, but if they were of a suitable weight, would make great toys to take to the range. What do you all think?

The side mount magazine is interesting...I wonder how much harder it is to convert it to belt feed?

The belt feed is an intersting idea. If one could imagine a 100rd belt @ $2 to $5 a round... Revert back to the picking up expensive brass post too. That being the case, just go the full 9 and get the M2HB semi auto kit and a bunch of surplus ammo. A little more expensive, but imagine the WOW factor when you show up to the range with your gun on wheels attached to a pintle hook on the back of the truck!!

Cool I would want a standard AR type butt stock instead of the one on it. One in 338RUM if they are accurate would make a neat sniper.

I like it, paticularly the idea of a 9,3x62. Tell me a shortie version of that rifle isn't every game scout's dream! Big Grin

Well I just called Cobb and they said for California, African safari and other locals where semi-autos are not allowed they will make the MCR-400 in Fast-Action. Which they said is just like the .50bmg they sell. Which means an AR15 that has a straight pull back

When I was in the Army, I truly came to know the M-16 platform. And the 9.3x62 is one of my favorite cartridges. And you can put just about any type of optics on it. And. And. And... Okie John
