.395 Barrels received in record time
To McGowen Precision Barrels, LLC: Thanks!!!

My second round of .395 barrels was a pair of stainless No.4 contour 28" length, with the obligatory 1:12" twist, 28" long.

This barrel weighs about 3.25 lbs. The GSC contour .395 barrels of 26" length weighed about 4.5 lbs. Those were made by Harry McGowen

I'll be using these light barrels on the .395 Ruger Max Hawkeye and a 400/395NE Ruger No.1., probably trimmed to 23" and 27" respectively so that both rifles will be the same handy overall length, and close to the same weight.

The heavier Harry McGowen GSC Contour barrels have been used on the .395 Tatanka and the .398 Lapua Mag. at 26" length.

Gerard will have a couple of the GSC Contour barrels to build his .395 GSC.

I guess prof242 got his MPB order already too, since he ordered his latest just before I did.

I was in Chicago for the last week.
Saw the play "Wicked" but I am not telling how the Wicked Witch of the West was born with green skin through no fault of her own. Wink

Hi Ron, great to see you back.
My #1 barrel came in in less than a week! Can't complain about that. I'm thinking of ordering another one for a friend.
The cast bullets I got from IS sized beautifully in the dies as did some lighter gaschecked flat-nosed bullets I'd ordered. Have been having a time getting the gaschecks to work on IS's bullets because there was no relief at the base for them. I hadn't thought this would be a problem considering how much sizing down would have to be done. Am still working on the problem. Oh, IS's bullets are long and stylish. They'll go wonderfully in the .400 Nitro Express!

Good show Colonel!
Veral Smith will be sending me some throat slugging lead and a hardness tester. Mold's to follow.
My barrels were delivered while I was in Chicago. Must have been about a week on mine too. Very special, eh?
Eventually we shall gitterdun. patriot

Are the Dr. Duo going to team up with a stateside bulletsmith to swage perfect 395's from scratch in all desired weights?

Get Commisioner Corbin on the bat-phone.

Obviously Gerard gets to be Batman. Hopefully he is making Batbullets in the Batfactory when not cruising around in the Batbakkie on BatSafari with Wonder Woman Gina.

We'll keep the Batlight on for them. Mysterious. thumb

I got dibbs on "The Flash" costume.

Green Lantern and Cato???

Only da Shadow knows!
Uh, that's in reference to the .395 Ruger Max dies. Hornady had completed them, sent them out for heat treating, and when they returned something had happened. According to Lonnie this happens with regular runs too so he wasn't upset except for relaying the info to me. Our dies are #1 priority right now at Hornady.
Eee Eee Ha hahahaha Hohoho. (I still liked, as a little kid, listening to "Bunco Squad.")

prof242. Thanks for the news. I dig "The Shadow " too, even if it is sure to reveal our age. Nah, we just heard some of those old radio shows on the car radio when stuck on a long drive. thumb
