Man, I feel really bad for people who get set-up like that and get hurt. There are several girls on youtube shooting rifle or shotguns and people just stand there and let them shoot it wrong and then laugh when they get smoked and then say "Oh $H&T" when the blood starts flowing. Its usually idiots boyfriends who think they are the next mercenary for hire...

My Win Mod 70 in 458 WM was one of your type of guns.

Came with 3 packs of ammo and only 3 shots had been fired.

It is just too funny...I should not laugh at other's misfortune, but I have watched that like twenty times and I still find it too funny.

Well that's what I expected when I try my Ceska 458 Lott . Right?, I thought it was not as kicker as they said, but seeing a large man being injured by the fall of Lott hehe, I hope not to sell the day after firing it .

That one isn't too bad. I have a no-neck friend who insists on chopping his big bore rifle stock off about an inch, and when I shoot them my thumb finds its way into contact with my nose. I know better, so it hasn't happened as bad as shown on that video, but it's very annoying, so I just don't shoot short stocked rifles.

There are lots of videos on utube showing naive kids or women shooting some kicking type of firearm, obviously holding it wrong and especially with their face way to far forward, and guys who are idiots standing by watching what is about to happen. Some goofy guys do it too. It's funny until the blood starts flowing from their nose or eyebrow from scope cuts. I don't find it amuzing, because I wouldn't do that to someone I cared about.

IMO, it looks like more a function of loose handling of the rifle as much as thumb placement.
Funny how folks just don't firm up the forend grip and firmly nest the butt into the pocket of the shoulder.
It's not just for big bores either, it helps with the accuracy and repeatability in all of your long gun shooting.

The stock was WAY too short for his frame. I'll bet he needs three more inches, take away the winter coat.

I don't think he broke his nose; note the vigor with which he tugs on it twice (and no blood)! I do, however, bet he feels like someone just punched him full in the snoot.

The stock is far too short, so that is what you get.

Not as "funny" as the a_holes that get women to shoot hard kickers and hurt themselves though. Of course what is really fun is to get those before mentioned a-holes behind a real kicker and watch them cry!

Perhaps it was the first time he had fired a rifle larger than 30-06. I think his grip was not firm enough for a serious recoil rifle.

A good friend of mine went to our local gun store. Had to have a .416 Remington. The store had a "used one", till had the first box of amo with it with only one empty round in it. I think he should of gotten the message with that bit of information. Well, he bought it and went out to the state range as all of our open areas are off limits to shoot anyhting at all unless it is in some hunting date. Well, the benches at the state ranges ae made of concrete and have a real smooth surface on them. Now this guy is not small, a retired deputy sheriff about 6'2" 250 lbs etc. So he sets up on the bench, in a sitting position. He lets loose with the first shot and then promptly finds himself on his back behind the bench on the ground. At this point he recovers and gets up off the ground and procedes to put the gun away. He then heads straight back to the gun shop and trys to tell the owner that there is something wrong with the gun as it has shurly blown itself up. At which point the gun shop owner nearly wets himself laughing at this guy. Then he is told not to try to shot it off a bench but use it standing so he can take up the recoil with his entire body. Later on the gun was back in the same store with only 4 or 5 rounds out of the same box of ammo. It's silly to try to shoot something that kicks like hell offhand and then wonder why you can't get a good group at any distance. We still joke with him about the .416.

It looked to me that he "crawled the stock" by craining his neck to far forward. Probably used to shooting a small bore rifle with a scope with not enough eye relief and never had enough recoil to give him the consequences. I hope he doesn't give up and is willing to learn.

Mike, we get MORE Good Deals on BIG Rifles JUST like this, here. And on BIG pistols, too. Everybody HAS to have that .500 S&W, you know. I got my .300 just this way. My wife got her .41 Mag. Titanium Snubby that way. BIG old boy who brought it in was there when I bought it for her, and he laughed, saying we'd be bringing it back the next day. After we each shot a cylinder-full through it, we LOVE it, and I couldn't understand what that Big feller's problem was with it. Boss Lady just looked over very seriously, and said,'He's a Pussy.' I couldn't help laughing.

First couple times I shot my buddies 375 RUM it was loaded about 8-10 grains light, so it was tolerable to be shot alot.

Well...I got loose with it one day, kinda put my cheek on it lazy and cracked off a full load. Rifle came up and punched me right in the jaw, I was counting tweety birds for a few minutes. THen quickly learned my lesson on how NOT to shoot a big bore rifle.

Definitely a short stock. I know from experience . . .

You have the option of starting with something less then full 458 Lott loads. This guy was setup with full 458 Lott loads in a rifle he had never fired before. Broken nose, nice Christmas present.

As mentioned previously, this normally happens with people shooting a shotgun for the first time. Does your 110#/45Kg girlfriend really need to shoot that lightweight 12 gauge shotgun with 3 inch magnum buckshot the first time?

Largest gun in my safe is 9 lb Winchester mod. 12 3" gun which is used for wildfowl and turkey hunting. Heavy jet surprisingly well-balanced piece very suitable to the task for which it was designed.

1 rifle is about all a Danish can manage. I usually go through a short checklist before I pop off a round through my .460; teeth clenched, cheek welded, stock to shoulder tight, watch out for front swivel stud etc. Always seem to get my middle finger knuckle pounded though.
