I am looking for a stock.
I am thinking of the 505 or 408 chy tec
Resale would be better on the chytec, all them black rifles are in vogue. 505 more practical
I got a 550 in 458 and the 470 double. and a couple 308 sniper rifles but nothing real long range. What you think

Have you considered a McMillian Tac-50 in 50 BMG? It's not as "mall Ninja" on the forums but, it is a proven system that works very well. If you need more long range then a 50 BMG, the 375/408 Cheytac would be my choice in that class.

I sort of went through a similar choice in the 338LM versus 338 Edge and went with the 338LM because the extra oomph the 338 Edge offered wasn't enough to offset the added logistics for ammunition, dies, etc.

Sid, he has a PH action .. the action isn't in question, and it can't take a bmg casehead

505... unless you made it a PT .. practical tactical, the 408 would be a beast... i heard a story about an 11# 408 using full house loads and no brake.... and something about either a fracture eye brow or a flying rifle ...

if i haven't canceled my order, or i wind up trading into one, it'll be prac-tac .. a 500AR setup to feed milsurps from the mag

The cost of shooting the chey tec would be out of this world. Midway only has one bullet listed.

I guess its going to be a 505. I may even have it put together by the shoot and hoot.

I'll bet http://www.northforkbullets.com and www.gscustom.co.za both, can generate bullets for the Chey-Tac.

Jack,

My guess would be that he means practical as in cheaper to shoot than the 50 BMG, as he intends to use pulled .510 military bullets.

How do you PULL 50 bmg bullets? I use a hammer, inertia type puller on smaller cases. Not seen any profuct at places like Cabela for 505 gibbs or 50 bmg size rounds. Those 50 BMG must be crimped in real tight.

in a 26" 1:10 twist VERY heavy barrel, you should see 2100-2200 fps .. i've got 1900 with h335, though i think 760 or other very dense slowish powder should get very very good results

the ph action is probably one of the very few actions that could make that a bolt feed reality
