I guess it's smart marketing not to release the official reamer specs. I'm sure ruger is in no hurry to be competing with folks building their own, and I'm sure not going to buy a barrel till they have official specs. Weagle

The proper specs have been published in the June 2007 NRA mag, American Rifleman, and Mitch Mittelstaedt, the designing engineer of Hornady R&D was quoted in that article. Proper reamers should be available now. Reamer makers can read the specs off the news stands, and apply them properly to making a reamer. I will not post that Hornady drawing of the Max Cartridge Specs again until Mitch tells me explicitly that I may. ![]() However, it does agree with what was published in the NRA mag.

RIP, I've been seening those drawings scattered across websites and magazines for a couple of months now and I'm wondering why there are no prechambered barrels yet. I'm sure there's a demand, so I'm guessing it's the lack of an "official" drawing that's holding them back. Weagle

I might be having a "blonde" moment ... but how is it reamer specs haven't been released but reloading dies are available? Is it just that the reamers specs are being kept out of privateers hands but manufacturers have access to them???? Cheers... Con

Weagle, Yessir, another publication I know of is the July 2007 _Shooting Times_ which has a Layne Simpson article on reloading the .375 Ruger. It has a drawing with proper .375 Ruger cartridge specs too, and further quotes of Mitch Mittlestaedt. PS: Layne is a whimp for recoil.

Con, Reamer specs are not generally "released." You usually have to go digging for them with the particular manufacturer. They just reflect the Max cartridge specs with proper variance for a minimum chamber (minimum slop or + tolerance) to work relibly with a maximum brass spec. The brass spec is the only cat to let out of the bag, and the cat has indeed been let out.

Douglas has reamers (made by the same folks who make them for Ruger). Jeffe, do you honestly think these fellas don't talk to each other al all? They seem to have a pretty good network amongst them. Mike, I talked to the hornady fellas and they have sent, as of june, the prints and specs (saami, btw) to all the major reamer guys... there has (has) been several "375 ??ruger??" rifle made, without said print, and people were "foolish" enough to complain that factory ammo didn't fit their custom rifle... prior to the print being released. in the tech world, we normally call this "pre-standard" right? in fact, there was a print posted here in what, december that was wrong.. which was kind of funny.... jefef opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
