I got back to the range for the first time since the hoot and shoot with the 505.

My 2150 fps load of 141 grs of rl 25 is a pussycat. So I decided to try a full house load of 150gr with the Barnes banded solid at 2350fps. Its like comparing a 308 to a 300 win mag.

No genital push or a large roar, a much sharper hit with a real crack to the report. 3 was all I wanted, with the 2150 fps load I can go to the ammo is gone. I don't even want to think what it would be like on the bench.

I am dead on at 25 and held 8" high at 200 on a clay pigeon. It just went away at the hit and so did a big chunk of berm. After that shot I put her up and refused to shoot any more because off ammo cost. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

The genital push has me worried as to how much you love your big bores Big Grin

What rifle is it?

JD, you need to try holding the rifle to your shoulder, not your genitals. No wonder the recoil is so bad. YIKES !!

Spell ck has failed me again, thats too funny to change.

You guys would notice the spelling and not the lucky 200 yard off hand shot smashing the clay pigeon.

Not sure just why you would shoot your 308 in rapid fire, but noticed that you did not mention shooting the Lott as fast as you could.
Now that would be an experience worthy of note!
As always, look forward to your next posting of shooting experiences.

I took the Lott along so I could try the new size front sight bead with my 550 gr loads.I was a little to high with the other one.I can't take shooting, rapid fire high power Lott loads week after week, year after year.I am not made out of steel.Besides,I just found out I can't take my Lott to africa because of my countries sanctions on Zimbabwe.I got to come up with a solution.Another reason I brought my Lott along is so I can get ready for my next shooting video, that should be out just before my safari.BTW,it was more fun shooting those Lott loads than it was shooting over a hundred 308 rounds-especially if the Lott loads strike home. There is no greater thrill, IMO.
