Good price on 416 Rigby?
One of our club members is advertising a CZ in .416 Rigby, topped with a 1.5-5x Zeiss. Price includes 150 bullets, and 2 boxes of factory ammo. Price $1800 firm. (Canadian $)

Can anyone tell me what the Zeiss scope sells for? I know the gun goes for about $1100 Cdn, new, and factory ammo is about $100/box.

I think thats a fair price if everything is in good condition. Two boxes of factory ammo could be worth a hundred bucks, and the Zeiss scopes are not cheap. I don't think that you have found the steal of the century, but you are certainly not getting ripped off.

I don't see any ammo listed for less than 75 a box, and can't find any Zeiss listed for under a grand. I'd say it is a very fair price.

I'd say its fair. Can't find a price in my catalogues for that scope, but if its the Conquest line its worth about a grand. If its a Diavari its worth double. Wish I knew more about Ziess rifle scopes.

And your saving about $150 on GST too boot.

Personally, I'm cheap with scopes....I'd offer him a grand for the rifle and ammo and let him try to sell the scope seperately. Smiler Get a used Leupold at the next gun show and you are in business.

Cheers,
Canuck

Well, I have a set of .416 Rigby dies sitting at home waiting for a rifle. However, funds are a bit short right now, but I could possibly swing it.

Now, if I bought the 416, then my .375 and .458 might become superfluous. (Is there such a thing as a superflous gun?) eek2

Canuck, I've got a used Leupold 1.5-5x waiting for a partner. Big Grin

If the price point is good enough you could turn around and sell the ZEISS and put that money towards the whole situation, might come out much better than you expect.
