My new 458 Lott
My first big bore was a Winchester M70 Safari Classic 458 win mag which I greatly enjoyed for many reasons. Killed lots of hogs and other delicious animals with her! I got the desire for a custom 458 so after some great testimonials from a few of the gentlemen on AR I found myself on the Bijou Creek website. Shortly thereafter the order was placed and here she is fresh out of the wrapper from Mike Cuypers!

458 Lott
Montana action
22" Shilen
Mcmillian stock with custom "Dark Continent" Camo
EAW scope rings/bases
Weight without scope/rings (I dont want to hear it Tom!!) just under 9 pounds! Yea! Yea! I know its too heavy but I like to work on biceps while I stalk! Also makes a good club if I run out of ammo! Big Grin

Looks great, even if it only has one barrel. Big Grin

I do not think 9lbs is to heavy for a 458, or a 458 Lott.

No worries Mr. Biebs!! I sent payment today for a Merkel 500 NE plus accessories that will be here when we return from our family vacation next week. The Lott project was ordered this summer.

Nine pounds? When I have my Lott built I am going to ask for 12, and no provision for iron sights!

I think it will be a good killer. The Lott has a fine rep.

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Palmer took the words from my mouth. It looks way to close for a long necked geek like me.

Very nice, but 9# is a bit light IMO. I would want 10# as a min. closer to 10.5# scoped & ready to go would be about right.

Nicely put together. Thanks for sharing.

I think a 9# including the weight of a recoil reducer would be a breeze to shoot.

Like the Africa cammo motif thumb

Neither do I, and I have an 8.5 pound .458 Win, without scope. That's a bit light for me personally. I'd rather have an all-up weight of about ten pounds with optics.

We will soon see, but I dont anticipate any problems. This rifle was on the shelf when I ordered it this summer so I was able to play with it a few weeks before I returned it for some changes. I found it to be very comfortable to shoot and like the design of the Mcmillian stock very well.

By the way the scope is a USO 1-4 with an ill circle dot (extended eye relief option). It was the only suitable scope lounging in the safe without a home. I will probably end up mounting a Leupold 1.5-5 in the future but for now this will do.
