well i finally got a 458lott. i picked up a cz550 last night. Action seems pretty smooth, love the sights and the wood looks pretty decent.. I do have a couple questions. On the barrel it says 458lott and underneath it says 458 winmag, is this normal, and should i be aware of anything. Also i would like to get a synthitic stock for this and was wondering if anybody had an idea? Cant wait to shoot it....

Grizz, aparently the barrel markings are normal.
(For CZ) I think they had a few W Mags laying around when the Lott craze started so they drilled the chambers out and restamped them.
No problem as it will shoot both.
It's good your looking for a new stock, as yours will probably crack in a few shots. Smiler
I learn't all that on AR so don't hold it against me.

the 458 win or double marked 458 lott and 458 win are the early ones, that were "custom" made here in the states by their gunsmiths. Seems to me that this would be of the more desirable

Still needs to be bedded

macmillian brothers makes synthetic stocks for them

congrats

Jeff, Re. the bbl markings. If I understand your post, were there some that actually crossed out the 458 Win. lettering and addeed 458 Lott?. Mine is marked as is Grizz's, with both.

Let us know how she bucks. You may want to get the action area glassed &/or add a cross bolt. I understand the CZ stocks are splitters once you get above the .375h&h.

McMillan makes a stock to suit the CZ550 or Brno 602. Look in their website.

Grizzinater -- I have one of the early ones as well and it is indeed marked with both .458 win mag and .458 Lott -- the .458 Lott was added like an afterthought! Let us know how it feeds softs as mine only feeds solids well. Even sent it back to CZ who declared it to be perfectly fit and didn't touch a thing.

They had one at Great Northern Guns awhile back, also a crossed out chambering marking. I almost had to take it home, but there was already a 458 Lott in the safe.

You don't reload Grizz?
Paul, I picked up my old 450 Ackely at GNG also. left handed to boot. They get some odd but good stuff in there on occassion.

GNG does have some neat stuff at times. One of my regrets is I didn't have funds when they had some 16 ga X 9.3X72R doubles, that would have been very nice!
