Kynoch, The load I use is Ross Seyfried's 40% of 4198. I'm using Bell brass, WLRM primers, 53 gr IMR 4198, 13 gr of dacron and a 370 gr bullet sized .512. That should get you about 1750 FPS, it regulates well in my Manton double. BTW I use mag primers because I had hangfires with the standards both in this caliber and in my 577 NFB. I think it has to do with the larger diameter and capacity at the base of the cartridge. Is your Martini prehaps unmarked except for AH on the barrel at the action and on the action over the chamber? I had one in that caliber some years ago but traded it off, wish I hadn't.Yell if I can be of further assistance. Best.

Thanks 50. Is it always IMR or H 4831? How far does the powder fill up the case? Near the neck? I know lots of folks do it, but I was concerned about wadding in a bottle necked case and was considering using a foam wad. Can you tell me specifically which bullet you are using? Havent seen the rifle yet, Its on its way soon. Thanks again for all! K

Kynoch, The 40% formula is for 4198, I use IMR, which fills the case just short of the shoulder. I think, and this is only me, that the dacron fibers as a mass of individual fibers will flow thru the shoulder and neck easier than a foam wad. I've not seen any sign of excess pressure using dacron. The bullet I'm using is from a modified Lyman 515141 mould which I converted to a hollow point. Most any bullet in the 340-380 gr. range would work, especially in a single shot. Take care.
