Metalsmith, It sounds like you've been to hell and back. Take extra care to keep your hand as clean as possible. Tenosynovitis infections are extremely serious. Since blood flow to the tendon and sheath are rather poor it takes a long time to repair itself, and the possibility of continued infection is great. For the sake of keeping you hand, take all of your antibiotics, and don't miss any doses. On a non medical note, I think it is awesome that you are trying a new action design. I am currently working on a falling block design of my own, and if you don't mind, I'll sure run an idea by you sometime soon. Take care. wk | |||

Hey gents! I was in a fairly foul mood the last post, but I thought it over and decided to order some more 4140 and re-engineer the action, as well as sending it to ol' Paul Bos for a heat treat, he definitly knows a thing or two about that subject! Well I did give the action a double draw temper, this may have been a reason that it blew out the front of the action. As for the action bar pins, I did case harden them so next time I think I'll take the time to completely heat treat and temper those as well. I might even try out a version made from 52100, as I've found out this metal has appreciable characteristics for firearms. I actually got the bug up my ass to start developing a double-barrel pump action rifle, based on a scaled-up Luger style action. It's going to be wide and flat, but it's promising. Will keep you updated on how the blueprints go. This rifle I'm going to be building around something big, say maybe starting off as a .577 Nitro, or a 8-bore. Plus I'm designing it to run off double-shell clips to allow a faster reload, hopefully. I thought it over and read all the comments again and this action is promising, and I just got a call from a patent/marketing company stating they are highly interested in marketing out the design once it's troubleshot. 375-06JDJ-The infection subsided, it took a little while but I caught it early so that took care of it fast. They wired everything back together and it's working like a charm. If you need any help with anything send me a PM and I'll give you my contact numbers/address and I'll be more than pleased to give you a hand!
