To good to be true?

PAGuardianTo good to be true?
Long story short, I've been looking into buying my first big bore but don't want to spend a small fortune. A family friend offered to sell me a pre-64 Winchester model 70 in 375 H&H for $600. I've personally shot this rifle and the action is in good condition. The stock is not the original but honestly I was planning on having a custom stock made later on anyways.
To me, this seems to be a great deal for my first big bore but it almost seems to good to be true. Am I missing something here or should I pull the trigger?

fla3006Great buy on "the rifleman's rifle". I have a 375 pre-64 M70 too, very pleasant to shoot. Watch ebay or other auction sites for a pre-inletted blank:

bwanamrmJump on it, the action alone is worth $600!

GeorgeSIf it is a 'pre-'64' with controlled-round feed, it is a decent price.

PAGuardianIt's a done deal. I'm very excited about this rifle. Over time I plan on having a custom stock made out of some locally grown black walnut or maple.

jeffeossoIs it actually an action made before 1964. Or the crf pre-64 style action? If the later then it is a good price. If the former it is a swindle of some sort

lavacaJeffe,
Doesn't really matter at that price. One's a great deal, the other's a steal.
