I would try my 458 or 470 collet, they would probably work if your careful...otherwise get a collet...You will also need a very big press such as the RCBS A-2 single station... Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

If you are desparate, there are always vice grips.

I use an impact puller for the big rounds (470NE and 500NE). The bullets are so heavy you really don't have to whack them very hard. Geronimo

WHat type of impact puller or collet are ya'll using? I use an RCBS hammer-style puller for smaller rounds, but the .505 is too big to fit. ANd one bullet is pushed in below the case mouth (don't ask), so vise grips are out. THanks!

Get a piece of 3/4 PVC water pipe, put the round in the shell holder and stick it down into the PVC. The shell holder will register on the mouth of the tube. Tape it in place so it won't fly back out. Put a little wad of toilet paper in the other end to catch the bullet and bounce the assembly on a hard floor until the bullet pulls. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

This is how we dod it when we do not have the right size collet. Remove any die you might have in teh press. Place the loaded round in the shell holder, and Lower the handle, until just the bullet pokes out of the die hole. Grip the bullet with a pair of adjustable pliers. If you are careful how you hold the bullet, no damage will occur. Pull the handle up. As the pliers are held by the top of the press, the bullet is pulled out with no damage to either the bullet or the case mouth.

You need a catcher's mitt, some good binoculars, and a wide open area to run around in, just in case you didn't shoot perfectly vertical... H. C.

I should have added that if you use a piece 3 feet long you don't even have to bend over "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

A standard tube flairing block, used as Saeed describes (without the pliers), will accomodate about any bullet diameter and does no damage.

Another way to remove a bullet is this: 1. Drill and tap the nose of the bullet to fit the bolt from your stuck case remover. 2. Put the cartridge in the shellholder, and run the press ram up through the [empty] hole in the top of the press for the die. 3. Thread the bolt into the drilled & tapped bullet, holding the stuck case remover base against the tope of the press. 4. Work the handle of the press to move the ram downwards, thereby pulling the bullet out of the case mouth. This will work with my stuck case remover. It would also work with a 5/16" bolt and a small plate of steel with a 5/16" hole in it. NOTE: The bullet will be a hollow point after this procedure.

500, Thats it, you've gone over the edge, twisted off on us, its over, your done for, you need help in the worst way..Next thing you will suggest hitting the primer with a nail and catching the bullet in your teeth...Let me know how it works.
