It amazes me how anyone can justify that kind of money for a plastic stocked rifle...They simply do not cost that much to produce..There are a lot of good unknown smiths in this country that can duplicate that rifle for a heck of a lot less money....

I can see it on wood, because wood is a piece of art, and many hours of the love of labor go into a proper Custom rifle, but plastic? NEVER.

The one exception may be D'Arcy Echols rifles, but even then I would make him put one of his wood stocks on mine....

It's for "catch and release hunting". If you touch off a .416 Rigby with that short of a bbl and a muzzle brake everything in a 100yd radius will be stunned and unable to move. Take yer picture with the critter and move off before it comes to.

Wink

Maybe we need an archive of photos depicting guns that just shouldn't be.

From the way that gun is set up, my guess is it was 'designed' by someone who hunts wounded brown bears in alder thickets.

It would be a simple matter to rebarrel this rifle, sand blast that grey stuff off, and blue it. If the price drops to $1500, I will consider doing so.

The brake would have to go, so I agree on a new barrel, depending on how durable it was I could get used to the gray, no worse than a bare stainless gun in my judgement ( which I don't like either ).

I am in agreement with Ray on this though, I am not about to pay $5000 for a synthetic stocked rifle, drop the price in half, then start deducting for the short barrel and the brake.

Pretty much a waste of a good action in my thoughts.

Jeffe are you out looking for ugly rifles?

Here is the flash version of the same idea. And if you take the Kreiger barrel/action work option and all steel bottom metal price is about the same $4700

I had a thought on this, why not just rebarrel it with a bead blsted stainless barrel. Probably match against the gray, and couldn't look any worse, definately save a dollar or two. First I would need to get the rig for $1000 though.

One Man's BLEK is another Man's OTAY! Razzer

I wouldn't want to pay quite that much for that rifle, but because it's a DAKOTA with a lot of extra work done to it, the price isn't too out of hand.
It's a LOT le$$ than the Echols rifle would be and whoever had this one done obviously wasn't concerned with trashing a beautiful piece of tree while killing big animals. clap
This gun has had high quality items installed or added to it, so the price really isn't so inflated.
Priced out that scope lately? It costs 20% of the what the guy wants for the whole gun! Eeker

What I see when I look at it is a well thought out TOOL. Cool
