Westley Richard Mannlicher in .375 Express, modified for the patent detachable barrel. The threads were bored out and the large ring was silver soldered to the action to facilitate the bayonet style take down system. Rare and I feel quite interesting.

Was this done by Craig? | |||

I'm not sure who Craig is. Westley Richards did the conversion and the original build, I am doing the restoration.

Apologies for the confusion, there was a South African Gunsmith who posted the exact same photos with your exact wording, made it seem like he did the work!

How did the silver soldering not ruin the heart testing of the action, I wonder?

The lug seats show no sign of set back. I would imagine close fitting heat sinks were used to keep the heat contained to the area forward of the bolt lock up. It is a survivor, still in great shape well over 100 years after rolling off the line and it appears to have seen a fair bit of use.

So, the barrel and action have no threads to hold them together? Like a Hexalock scope mounting system? Thanks for posting. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
