I am planning on mounting a 2.5X El Paso steel tube Weaver on my 10.75. I found this scope 4 or 5 years ago new in box and there it has remained until now. Duplex reticle. What is the general thought on using these scopes on big bores, say up to .458WM? Thanks, Bob

fairly short eye relief .. i've gotten clipped by a 2.5 steel weaver .. not a scar, just pushed. ON a 10,75 it should be fine opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I've got one on a .35 Whelen. That rifle is a 30-06 Pre-64 rebarreled to look like original, though 35 Whelen was not a standard production caliber. Scope and rifle: One-shot pig killer, it has never failed me. The old Weaver K2.5 might be as simple and rugged as a Leupold 2.5X, only longer tubed and heavier, not a bad thing for big bores. Optics may not be quite as good as the Leupold, but they are good enough for me. Eye relief: Push it as far forward in the rings as it will go, and get used to it there. Better than a scout scope. Minimizes parallax errors. That is a classy scope to put on any big bore. Didn't Finn Aagaard use them on his rifles?

Just what I wanted to hear. You boys have a lot of class My rifle maker is making a set of custom bases, low enough to use the express sights when scope is off. Talley QD rings. The original flag safety is being replaced by a Dakota 3 position and the bolt, a Talley to clear the scope. Rip, I think you are correct. Finn used a similar scope on his .458. I hope to see it before Christmas. Thanks again, Bob

My K 2.5s have the longest eye relief of any rifle scopes I have used - About 5". The eye relief is also non-critical. You eye can be off axis some and still see through the scope. I believe Finn Aagard had one on his rifle..

I had one on my ruger 77 458 for years. Worked fine, the only thing is the scope is not as bright and clear as one made today--- some 45 years later!

Very good period scope. I think there are improved optical quality scopes available.

Finn used one on his 375 for several decades. His 458s had peep sights. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. Saw Finn's 375H&H with that 2.5x Weaver getting ready for another hunt just the other day. The shooter was doing superbly with that old Weaver. Pete A.
