I will be in Houston on June 9 and 10. Is there a range where I can rent a .375 H&H or a .375 Ruger to shoot? Remington, CZ, whatever, it does not matter to me.

Thanks,

Al

We might can help .. though I don't current have a 375HH, i do have a bunch of other big bores.

the 4 common ranges are
South - Bailey's House of Guns

West - AMerican Shooting center (i personally
won't be there again, i hope)

North - Carter's COuntry in spring

further north - Thunder RAnge -- not really suitable for big bores, as its ALL enclosed benches at rifle ranges .. though its the closest to me

way north - conroe gun emborium ... probably the best prices for a multi gun selection

most ranges charge for first shooter and first gun, and then every additional gun .. and if there's more shooters, every shooter has to pay ... someplaces its cheaper to have a bunch of shooters with one gun, sometimes a bunch of guns and 1 shooter.

my only, in house today, .375 is a steyr

I'm an hour south -- Greenwood Gun Club member. Not sure where you live or will be staying. I have a .375 Weatherby and .416 Rigby that I exercise now and then. We could meet up -- will you have a rental car?

Just a thought...

I have two rifles chambered in 375 H&H. A Model 70 Safari Express and a Whitworth. I think I can arrange for you to shoot them along with my 9.3X62CZ. Maybe even a 450/400 double rifle.

Gentlemen,

I will be travelling up to Houston in the morning on June 9. We have some business we have to get done, hopefully before lunchtime. We also want to take the kids to the zoo. We will be staying in a hotel, but I don't know where.

Our plans are somewhat flexible. If I can meet one of you guys, I can probably arrange to stay in a hotel near your firing range. My wife will not want to sit around a shooting range while I have "fun", so If I can drop her and the kids off at the hotel and meet one of you guys, that would be perfect.

The 9th or 10th, Tuesday or Wednesday will have to be an afternoon shoot. Probably are 3-5 PM.
If you are staying near downtown or the southwest side, the range is a 30-40 minute drive.

I shoot at Bayou Rifles Juliff range (Hwy6 & 288 area) often at lunch during the week, mostly with my Cooper practicing for Small Bore Silhouette. But I got a push feed M70 375 I bring often. Generally shooting a mix of light and full loads @ 50yds. Got a couple of interesting pre64 M70's in 7x57 & '06 that would love to be shot too.

If you guys want to hook up I'd be more than willing to let a fellow shooter to pound away. I'll bring plenty of ammo. My office is near 610 So & 288 so am 20 minutes out.

Be careful asking about big bore shooting there in Houston. I got an invitation to shoot with Rusty, Mike, Jim and the guys last year and the next thing I knew there were 20 people there and 50-60 rifles. I had a blast!
