I got to the range today & did alittle work w/ the .404. My .380grNF loads are shooting great, several groups coming in just over 1" I had sim. results w/ the 400gr Barnes solids. My dilema is the solids shoot about 2 1/2" lower than the NFs. Is this really an issue? I haven't tried other powders to adjust the POI. I'm hoping Mike gets some solids done in .423 before I head to Moz. in Sept. IF not, the 400gr Woodleigh shoots almost as well & the POI is almost identical to the solids.

I just went through that with my .416 Rem. My 370 grain North Forks were one inch over bullseye at 100 yards. When I got the solids from Mike my first three shots printed in one oblong hole, however the group was 9 inchs low and 4 inchs right of center. I had used my normal .416 Rem seating die, which seated the solids considerably lower in the case than the softs. I used my .416 Rigby seater die and the OAL was much further out. I then adjusted the depth to bearly clear the magazine, this raised the group back to within one inch of the softs, which I can live with. This was my experience, for what it is worth to you. Good luck and good shooting.

The diff. is @ 100yds, vel. within 50fps. I haven't tried varying depth or powder charges yet. How much is an acceptable diff. for you guys? I think I could live w/ the bullets hitting 2" lower as long as they have the same windage.
